Jerry and I continued to be at amazed at how open we are to a special needs child. Is God just working on expanding our hearts or is he preparing us for our child? We don't know - but what we do know is that we feel joy and peace at the prospect of being blessed by a special needs child.
What else is happening in our lives.....more abundance. Hmmm..what does it all mean? The funny thing is we didn't have to be patient or wait for this garden. It just happened in abundance to us novices - see photo! Included are watermelon, musk melon, green and red peppers, red cabbage, tomatoes (including cherry). It's as if we did a little bit of work - and God just showered us with abundance. I keep telling Jerry it almost feels embarrassing. Neighbors who have worked so long and hard at gardening haven't had nearly the results of these newbies! Go figure!
I was touched by the blog of a fellow "waiting for a child from China" friend who quoted the following from the Book of James in the title of his blog " Think of a farmer: how patiently he waits for the precious fruit of the ground until it has had the autumn rains and the spring rains! You too must be patient; do not lose heart..." If you do the math...IF China speeds up , we might be looking at 2010 for our child! It's on our hearts to be parents, so either God will give us the grace for the wait or He'll surprise us with the gift of a special needs child, whom we could bring home much sooner.
You who read this blog are probably waiting for something to happen in your lives, too. Maybe it's a new job opportunity, a special vacation, a raise, a relationship.....together let's remember the fullness of joy is with us now - let's cling to Jesus and trust.
